Sun worshipper

Today we went down to the New Forrest where a Co-operative that we belong to has its solar far. We spent a good 3 hours repairing the fence line and checking the hedge out to make sure all was well. I took a few pictures of the panels and I like this one best.

On cold sunny days in winter these panels work really well - they like the sun but not the heat - so when there is a blue sky and a cold wind they generate quite a bit of electricity.

For your own roof you can now buy combined PV/thermal panels, where the top surface generates electricity and the lower surface collects heat and takes it away so the panels run cooler and hence more efficiently, giving you more electricity than you would otherwise get and oodles of hot water. It's more complex and expensive to install but it is starting to appear
