San Louis Rey Mission

A visit to these old , old buildings, originally build in the early 17 hundreds , then taken away from the catholic church mid 18 hundreds, used then by soldiers and fell in disrepair. It must have been quite sturdy, because it was worth being rebuilt and repaired when it was officially returned to the catholic church in 1867.  In the back of their inner courts is the oldest pepper tree of California, dating form 1830 grown from seeds brought from Peru by a sailor. The Monks loved the red pepper because of their medicinal benefits, being used on wounds and infected tissue. It will be in the extras together with some other pictures of the premises.
