Catkins

I'm reliably informed on the Country File website that:

"Trees festooned with catkins are a sure sign that spring has finally arrived" !!!

Do they know the weather forecast for next week? Snow and freezing conditions :-(

Also, Googled to learn that they are a cylindrical flower clusters usually wind although sometimes insect-pollinated!!
