Hobbs's Run

Juanita chose the subject for today's Blackheath Blippers' Challenge. It is the Blackheath Railway Station. Our town is connected to Sydney and the rest of Australia by the Great Western Highway and by the "main western railway line" which effectively crosses the whole of the continent to Adelaide and Perth.

Several times a day, kilometre long coal trains surge through here supplying industry and bulk export seaport terminals at different locations on the coast. They are invariably pulled by four of the largest class (82 class) of diesel electric locomotives.

The station and its platform date from the late nineteenth century but have been renovated a number of times.
