Brick chic

Brick buildings are very unusual around here, and this house certainly stands out. It has a rather fabulous door for my collection too: different knockers on each half.

Tuesday is walking day; it was sunny but chilly, and the walk was short and easy (9 km, 50 m total climbing). En route we visited two Romanesque churches. The first was in Escales (see first extra). I found this photo strangely attractive and was going to blip it, but my blip assistant stepped in and rejected it. The second was the isolated chapel of Notre Dame de Colombier, near the village of Montbrun. It has a semi-circular apse with lombard arches (second extra), which is quite common in early Romanesque churches here.

Everyone else in Europe seems to be wading through snow. The sky here has been clear blue all day, and it's still clear now. But Meteo France claim we're going to get an épisode neigeux tomorrow -- we shall see.
