Hollibobs!

After a FRANTIC packing session first thing plus much list making and finalisation of who needs to do what and when we actually left at 10:45 am which I thought was a miracle considering what we had to do!!

So we headed for Buckfastleigh to stop off and visit Buckfast Abbey. I had not been before but James had on his away day with his friend Roger last August.

Buckfast Abbey is stunning! The setting is lovely and the Abbey it’s self is so beautiful both inside and out. Despite the cold weather and biting wind we did wander around the gardens which must be lovely in the summer. The inside is beautiful and what is amazing is that it was only finally consecrated after its total reconstruction in 1932. Well worth a visit. See extras for more of the interior.

After a very pleasant lunch we headed off across country in the Dartmoor direction eventually stumbling upon Combestone Tor , see extras for shot of this. Quite dramatic and so close to the road as well that I did not have to get out of the car to take the shot. In my defence it was bitterly cold! I am thinking an Artic blast may be on its way!

We then headed for Dartmouth through the twisting lanes following the River Dart (I think) which was just lovely.

Once in Dartmouth we located the Bayards Hotel and after much panting and puffing ascended the twisting stair cases to out little room. All very quaint and rather small but it will do! James then set about getting a parking space which is another challenge in Dartmouth! But at least in Winter once you have a space there is no time restriction on it! Phew!!

Supper was at Rockfish a very well known fishy restaurant which we both very much enjoyed! Then back to our room on the third floor and ready for a goods nights sleep!
