Stuff and Nonsense

Homeward bound

This is the gang I've been with all week in Lucker, Northumberland and most of us headed for home this morning.
After going around 20 miles in the first 2 hours, the rest of the journey was OK, if a little slow. It took us around 7 hours which was better than I thought it was going to be for our 200 mile journey.
2 of our party are not due for leaving until tomorrow but I suspect that they will be taking up the offer to stay longer from the HPB after they apparently told those arriving today not to come if they had not already set out.
2 others set out, only to have their car break down 3 miles from Lucker. Not heard what they did, but my suspicion is that they went back to Lucker - at least that's what any sensible person would have done!
Dane, the organiser is the fittest out of all of us and decided to walk 4 miles to the bus stop, only to find out from a local that the buses weren't running and then hitched a lift for the first time ever in his 60 years to a train station and got home only 15 minutes later than planned. Dane doesn't drive and always uses public transport and despite our protests, refused a lift to anywhere from everybody, preferring not to spend all day sitting in a car!!
So far at home in Widnes, there has only been a light covering of snow, and depending on the weather and trains, we are due down in London on Friday night for the weekend for my father in law's 80th.

Anyway, hope everyone else stays safe and warm.
