The Untrained Eye

Not just another church?

The skyline here is littered with the shapes of churches in all shapes and sizes but we have to admit this was impressive and very beautiful. It’s Ta Pinu at Ghammar and it’s a national shrine and basilica. Though built on the site of an earlier church this was built in 1833 and looks as if it was built yesterday. It is enhanced by magnificent mosaics of the life of Jesus in its foreground and to its left what looks like a miniature St Stephens Tower but no sound of Big Ben. 98% of Malta’s population is Catholic hence the multitude of used churches. End of lecture! Sorry!!
