Storm Emma

Couldn't get far today - the wind was gusting 50mph, and the roads were pretty covered in snow. So to be sensible, we took a walk from home, alomg the Newlands valley - towards Outerside. The winds here were so strong, Deb could hardly stand up. At times we were being peppered with snow, drifting over the hills, at times, the snow had no depth, but the ground was totally frozen, and at times the drifts were pretty deep.

We had crampons, spikes, poles, ice axes and everything for safety with us. Despite this we considered it just too windy to return over Barrow, which was our original idea, so instead we stayed low (still blowy though!)
