N Z - Day 19

It was a long journey yesterday, the return boat trip crossing and then a 4 hour journey to our next destination in Catlins, the Southernmost tip of New Zealand. Our apartment has a wonderful view right on the beach and the little blue penguins come out at dusk to feed their young and have a nest under the owner’s deck. We walked for 5 miles this morning to see the fossilised forest, the area where there are 3 nests of Yellow eyed penguins, I think they are called. The owners of the apartment where we are staying are farmers with 100 cattle and 500 sheep, see extra. We watched dolphins playing off shore from our picture window before the rains set in.
