Snow.

The predicted snow did arrive here, yesterday afternoon. I have been out in the garden early this morning feeding the birds. My blackbirds love chopped apple and sultanas! I cleared a space on the patio table for the smaller ones, and a thrush arrived. I have not seen one in the garden before, although there are several in our area, and one on particular who in mid January was already singing his melodious evocative song.
It is marginally warmer this morning and the goldfinches are back on the feeders.
A heron glided overhead as I was taking bird seed up to a cleared space.
A gradual thaw feels like a possibility and the birds can sense it.
Spring may yet overcome the last of winter's icy grip.
