Turned round by a blizzard

This year they have moved tahkokurun on kesanki - it used to be just a fireplace but is now a proper enclosed hut a bit higher up. We skied up and as it was nice and sunny decided to take off our skis and see if we could walk up to the summit. It was a bit problematic at times as it was very easy to fall through the hard crust of snow and loose your leg into the snow to the knee or even thigh. But that wasn't what stopped us. The sun started to fade, the snow and wind came and the visibility started to go. We could not have been more than a few hundred metres from the summit but decided to leave it for another day while we could still see at least some of the way back. This shot is on the descent looking back up - still snowing, but sun trying to break through.  Next year we may need to ski up and bring the snowshoes and do both summits (weather permitting !)
