Saying Goodbye With Savoy Cabbage

My Blip title is not the translated title of the book. Die gemeine Hauskatze is the German title of Pratchett's The Unadulterated Cat, but translates into German as "The Common Housecat" (although there is a bit of wordplay because "gemein" can mean "nasty" or "mean" among other things.)

The book was lying on my desk when I got into work this morning (after a completely uneventful journey), a little present from a colleague who thought that I needed cheering up after yesterday.

Naturally we had a bit of a chat about the book and how the title could be read in a few ways, and because tangents are how minds work in IT, we ended up with me being told about a radio comedy series called "Feinkost* Zipp".  So I learned about Frau Zombie, Frau Werwolf ("des g’hört so") & Herr Zipp.  And apparently Herr Zipp used to say goodbye
 to his customers by mangling the word "Wiedersehen" into "Wirsing" and "ein Wirsing" is a savoy cabbage.

In other news, I got to work at 7 as usual.  Actually managed a few competent things.  I surprised myself.  I didn't really sleep.  And when the alarm went, I would have loved to have stayed in bed.  But. I have things to do.  I was happy when I got home though..
