Cormorant drying its wings

I spotted this bird while waiting for friends on a pedestrian bridge (actually wrong bridge, never met the friends, but that's another story!).
A passer-by told me this is a cormorant. Apparently there's quite a few of them living by the river Rhône.
Quite an impressive bird, I'd say!
