Thoughtful

Having a quiet day today after a very tiring day yesterday.

It took us 3 hours to get home from Castle Bromwich - Crufts!! I should have realised it was on this week. A few years ago we dropped daughter #1 off at Birmingham International station and she was home in Wapping before we even got out of the station car park! I vowed never to go anywhere near Birmingham again when Crufts was on. Which reminds me - must avoid Cheltenham next week as the races are on.

The father-in-law was very good at the dentist, but we had to endure the full range of wartime and school reminiscences during the afternoon. We had how his father saved the school and his house from an incendiary bomb, the girl who got her arm stuck behind the heating pipes in assembly (with a slight embellishment this time concerning how he probably introduced Christianity into the school), the girl who knew how many thruppence three farthings in a million pounds (64 million, you can work it out), the boy who gave away his new ruler to his best friend, his famous self-penned school play 'Waiting For The Tiger' and many others. He always starts by saying 'have I told you this before, and when we say 'yes, many times' he then proceeds anyway. We love him really.
