A step back in time

This wonderful Modern History Museum is  near Malton in N Yorkshire
It was originally a POW  camp with 33 huts. After the prisoners had all left, the camp was used for storage and then abandoned.  In 1985  it was bought by Stan Johnson who intended to use it as a factory site to manufacture potato crisps but after three Italian ex-POWs  asked permission to look around it as it had been their "home" the seed was planted to preserve it!  Wonderfully preserved!  More pictures here
