I really like analogue map material (and indeed it is necessary on tours as your battery powered devices tend to crap out in just the wrong moment), but the digital tools are hard to beat when it comes to planning a ski mountaineering trip. For example, the digital map in the photo shows the slope gradient (white <30°, yellow 30° - 35°, orange 35° - 40°, red >40°), which is important for assessing avalanche risks, as avalanches typically happen only at inclinations greater 30°.
