Pre-Marathon

Tomorrow is the 50th staging of the Engadine Ski Marathon and there are over 15000 entrants making it one of the largest events of its kind in the world. The excitement is gripping the valley and St Moritz with lots of pre-event races including a night race and amazingly quick sprint relay races. However, after a week of cold crisp weather which had the piste in perfect condition, the conditions have turned warm and wet. It has snowed all day with intermitent sleat and the same is forecast for tomorrow. This will make the going heavy and hard so we shall just have to see.
