nonsenses & truths

Bits and pieces

Just emptied my pockets when I got home from bike fixing-up duties.  I was doing a service on a really hammered, cheap-in-the-first-place road bike that has been used by a guy working for a Deliveroo-type place (although apparently they actually pay minimum wage).  The rims were dented to buggery and the chain rings almost bent enough to make gear adjustment impossible.

He came into the shop while I was working on it because he's borrowing a 'courtesy bike' while this is being fixed, because he can't afford not to be working.  It was quite humbling to be there with the bike on the work stand while he was there, made me want to get it just right.  The courtesy bike was comedy; in order to transport takeaway food in the  appropriate bag they fitted a rack complete with handlebars for support/rear light holder.  A bonus of this feature is that any vehicle overtaking will have to give it a decent berth.
