"A bit hilly in the first half"

We rode from Kendal out to Gatebeck and up Clawthorpe Fell, then down to Arnside and a scenic and flatter ride back. This is the ride leader 'encouraging' us up the hills. The weather was springlike, and there were celandines, snowdrops and lambs to be seen everywhere.
