Enzo the Baker

Aaagh!

Thanks so much to Mrs E, an expert proofreader, for intercepting a split infinitive amongst 3,000 words for my MSc, due tomorrow.

This is the pedant's (pedants', perhaps) bible. The two-and-a-half pages on split infinitives begins: "The English-speaking world may be divided into (1) those who neither know no care what a split infinitive is;(2) those who do not know, but care very much; (3) those who know and condemn; (4) those who know and approve; and (5) those who know and distinguish.

Some of my former BFBS colleagues would enjoy the article on "jingles", which which is meant "the unintended repetition of the same word or similar sounds ...". One in particular might enjoy this example: "I awaited a belated train".
