My view for much of the night in A&E while waiting over 11 hours for a doctor and a further 5 hours before the verdict of a consultant. Behind the curtain lay a man in great pain who waited 18 hours before being told he would be admitted. Some were discharging themselves after waiting 9 hours without seeing a doctor. People were sitting on hard chairs or lying on trolleys in the noisy corridors for hours while hard pressed night staff rushed around doing all they could to help in the difficult circumstances. Tonight I hope the patient has a good sleep after being moved into 8 different areas. I'm sure I will.
