Film Noir

When I'm tramping through rain-sodden streets in the ever-encroaching darkness, beatified by the lamplight, I find it hugely difficult not to pretend I'm a detective in a film noir.

This is not good news, as these days, getting caught in the bushes wearing a trilby and a raincoat does not exude the air of mystery and manly heroism that it once did.
