Onto the Mountain

We awoke in Ottsjö to bright sunny weather, even if it was a chilly -16C. We took it easy because temperatures were forecast to rise during the day.
We went down to the shop for some food and advice.  The small, and only, shop in Ottsjö sells EVERYTHING!  The advice we got was that with weather as good as this we should go up to the plateau. L had also recommended the plateau so off we went.
The blip shows Janet climbing a short uphill section as we approach the treeline.
The extra shows the Plateau, as seen across a cup of coffee, from the wind shelter.
On the way to this wind shelter we had the wind at our backs.  After a cup of coffee and a chat with some other skiers we set off back the way we came.  The wind was now directly in our faces and the wind-chill factor was something fierce. Now we understood why everyone we met was so well wrapped up!
An interesting detail - on the left of the extra picture is a well anchored metal cable. This cable goes across the roof and is similarly anchored on the other side. There is a twin cable at the other end of the hut. These cables stop the hut from being blown away when the wind really starts to blow up here, a measure of just how bad it can get when the weather isn't this good!
