Crane

This common crane (grus grus) has been in Deerness for a couple of days. It may be one of three which were spotted heading toward Orkney from Caithness a few days ago, but no sign of the other two. Not a common bird in the UK, in spite of the name. Possibly blown eastward in the winds recently. It was very windy out there, especially close to the shore with masses amounts of spray making photography and birdwatching very difficult. Other birds were fieldfare, redwings, snipe etc.
