Englishman in the Balkans

By BalkansDavid

Back to "Fail Safe" Basics.

I really thought that we had the worst of the winter weather behind us.

Experiencing the chaotic snowy conditions in the UK and previous to that, "digging out" on a daily basis here in the village, I started to enjoy the warm sun and blue skies that I adore so much.

Until today.

It's been raining so heavily, that the water is literally running off the surface of the ground, gaining speed as it Cascades down the hills into the valley.

Our storm drains are now overflowing, and looking across the fields, they are filling with water.

If we don't get some flooding it will be a miracle.

The forecast for the next few days is more rain and SNOW!

Decreasing temperatures to around +2 during the day to -4 at night.

Crazy! It's mid March for goodness sakes.

Our central heating is an amazingly large wood burning device that heats the radiators and water for both upstairs and downstairs.

At the moment it's just the two of us though (and the cats and dogs) living downstairs.

So the central heating is not being used.

We have our own independent log burner downstairs in the living room that keeps us as warm as toast throughout.

We have enough fuel. So keeping comfy is not an issue.

The issue is global warming.

Hoping I don't have to post images or videos of flooding or that we don't get stranded.
