Cheers!

I left His Lordship in the only heated room in the Dower House, to brave the snow showers and meet up with Glasgow daughter and granddaughter at Harvey Nick’s in Edinburgh for the long awaited mocktails promised before Christmas.

The city was particularly busy with lots of green Irish Rugby supporters milling round the Irish pubs and kilted Scots wending their way to watch their match against the French. We were so lucky to find a corner in Harvey Nick’s and enjoy our strawberry based alcohol free cocktails.

Nina is 9 going on 19 and is guaranteed to come out with very astute statements and opinions leaving her mother and me lost for words and raising our eyebrows in amusement over the shared rainbow cake at our next port of call. It was very much a case of ‘out of the mouths of babes and sucklings’.

I returned to the Dower House to find HL hoarse after his encouragement of the Scottish team in their exciting match with Italy and fully engaged in supporting both sides in the English - Irish match.

We both had such good days that we haven’t had time to moan about broken boilers when the temperature outside feels like -7° with no respite in the offing.
