Old Bridge

Linthaugh Bridge over the River Avon at Stonehouse

The original bridge built in 1772 was washed away by floods and the present structure was built late seventeen or early eighteenth century

Frequent repairs are required but the engineers who designed the bridge would never have imagined such a life-span.

Built for horse and cart, now used by biggest HGV’s. The bridge has no weight restrictions !
