Shiver me timbers

This is the roof space in my parents French hoose. It looks a bit Amityville Horror but it's actually very cosy. Most of the bedrooms on the first floor were affected by water damage so I ended up staying on the top floor. Unfortunately I was sharing the roof space with a bird or mouse and the little blighter insisted on waking me up at about 4am most nights!

I'd love to have something intelligent to say about the provenance of the house but I don't. Suffice to say it's a super dwelling in a very beautiful and unspoilt part of France and somewhere I wish I had more time to visit. Hopefully Sarah and I will get a summer holiday out there with pals but not until 2014 by the looks of things!
