Frenchman's Cap

Finally ticked off this great mountain off our Tas bucket list!

Made good progress initially, reaching the Lake Vera hut in 3hrs. We then had lunch, dumped most our gear, and pushed on towards the summit. The view after reaching Baron's Pass was awesome, getting the first true view of the summit. After passing the nearly completed Lake Tahune hut, we steeply climbed up towards the summit. There was a very informative sign, pointing us directly up the cliff with the word "summit". It was a little less severe than it looked though. At 2:45 we reached the summit and took in the fantastic view, taking shelter from the wind which was pretty strong. Layering up, we began the descent back down to the hut, reaching it just before 6pm.
A wonderful day, some great company in the hut overnight, and even found Jeff and Sally's log entry from Xmas 2014!
