Race Day

Today is our biggest fundraiser of a 21 mile fell race.....and we woke up to very snowy, cold conditions.

I arrived at the main pavilion at 6am to start catering for the parking and registration volunteers, to find the main registration tent collapsed on the floor - aaahhhh. At 7am, approx 700 people were about to descend on us! By 7.15 the tent was back up and some people had already arrived. by the time the walkers and runners had all set off a grand total of 430 people had turned out - amazing number considering the weather conditions and deteriorating forecast.

Blip is the calm before the storm. The people are supporters, who decided to support from the warmth of the pavilion!

It was a really good day with the whole of the village and school community turning out to work alongside each other. The cake that was left over is going to a local homeless shelter with the soup going to warm the kids up next week in school.

Roll on next year, which hopefully will be in lovely spring sunshine as normal!
