Snow Baby

Unfortunately we didn't have a great start to the day - we'd planned a nice relaxing morning and were going to go to a brocante followed by a trip to the beach before heading home.  However, Alan went onto our central heating App as we have a 'Nest' and can control the heating while we're away, but it said it was offline and had lost connection at about 12.30am.  The biggest concern was not the heating, although that's not ideal given the fact that it had been snowing again, but it meant that the food in the freezer would start defrosting.

Luckily the boys were with the doggy sitter, and Charlotte said that Laura would pop round to check things out, and messaged me soon after to say that there was no power and the house was very cold.  I then spoke to our neighbour Nicola who said she'd go in and get the key to the garage to check the trip switches.  Sure enough something had tripped so she re-set it.  An hour later, Alan checked the Nest again and it was offline again!  Quick call back to Nicola who offered to empty our freezer and put the food in their freezer.

So later than planned, we went back to Le Spey for a hot chocolate and a coffee, and whilst it was still very cold, the sun was shining so we sat outside.  Then we made a decision to head home and telephoned Eurotunnel to ask if it was possible to change to an earlier train.  They were very accommodating booked us on a train an hour earlier and didn't charge us anything extra..

When we arrived back in Folkestone  it was snowing quite heavily, but thankfully the roads were quite quiet.  I said to Alan that I'd like to get some snowy photos and he agreed to stop at Ditchling Beacon for me.  My idea of getting a snowy landscape went straight out of the window when I saw this little lamb who had been born just minutes before.  I felt so sorry for it as it's mum didn't seem to bother about it, I just hope they get through this cold spell!

When we got home, it was so cold and only 11 degrees in the house!  We still don't know what caused the problem but everything seems ok again and at 10.30pm it’s finally got 21 degrees!
