Koruru (MM217)

The theme for mono Monday is exotic - this Koruru, a carved mask used to decorate the gable of a house,  is about as exotic as I'm likely to see today. 

It is, of course, a tourist souvenir bought from one of the many museums celebrating New Zealand's history.  All the same - it reminds us of two brilliant journeys around a fabulous country on the far side of the planet.
