10-рублевая банкнота

Mono Monday: Exotic

This is a 10-rublevaya banknota, or 10 ruble note as we would say in English.  It was left over from Cathy and my trips to Moscow and St Petersburg a few years ago when our daughter was there as part of her Russian and Politics degree.  With every thing that is currently happening we are enormously pleased that she is nowhere near Russia just at present.

This 10 Russian Rubles banknote was first issued by the Bank of Russia back in1997. I had initially thought that this would be an image of a bridge in Moscow or St Petersburg.  In fact it is an engraving of the Kommualny Bridge accross the river Yenisey, and the tower of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk.

As for its value, well it has some sentimental value as a keepsake from our trips to Russia, which were most definitely exotic from our perspective.  Its monetary value is not that great, it is currently about, ooh, maybe as much as 9 pence.
