Rush hour

Welcome to rush hour on the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The viaduct is an aging, half century old two level concrete structure that runs the length of the Seattle waterfront.

This aging structure has already been partially torn down, in preparation for an underground tunnel expected to be completed some time in 2016.

The Alaskan Way Viaduct is part of Highway 99, which before the construction of the interstate highway system was the main route between California and Washington.
