somewhere, over the rainbow

Wonderful snap of a rainbow over the shipyard in Belfast. Rainbows, the eternal sign of hope and prosperity of things new.

The hint of the crane, the masts, speaking of former times and glories.
We neither need to forget the past nor deal with all its legacies in order to to move on. Yer sometimes the past traps us, makes us falter.
In Papua New Guinea  one group of people talk about the future being behind them and the past in front - the contrary to our worldview, that sees the past as being behind us. Their logic? Simple. We don't yet know the future - so it is behind us in terms of being as yet, unseen. However, we do know the past so it is, in that sense before us, as a guide. But only there to remind us of where we came from and the mistakes we made... so we learn and move on.
So let the rainbow draw us on to greater things yet to acomplish and let us be guided by our shared past to a better, shared future
