Today, as part of my work I went to view an office that a client may buy. He wanted to know what IT he would need to make it ready to use.

From the landlords brochure data cabling had been described, and we wanted to check it was ok to use.

On arrival we find current occupier has already moved out and contractors are putting the unit back to how it was before the last lease was had.

We got talking to them. Over the last 2 years they had installed

New kitchen
Alam and CCTV
160 CAT6 data points
Meeting room with glass partitions
Blinds to all windows

At great expense...

This week, the landlord had got them to rip all that out, so my client needs to spend £10k to reinstate, so his offer to buy will be £10k less.

Common sense has had a by pass, in a world where we are worrying about single use plastics, we are actively creating waste on a commerical scale while some Legal Eagle enforces a dilapidations clause on a lease.

All of us decided the whole thing was a wtf moment, and left non plussed.
