Day 081/18. The Hythe Pier railway.

The construction of Hythe Pier started in 1879 and the pier opened in 1881.
This is the seaward end of the pier,  where the ferry from Southampton docks, and here you can board the World's Oldest Pier Train (official Guinness World Record) and after the short ride of 640 metres (2,100 feet) you will have travelled along one of the ten longest piers in the British Isles.
It is also the worlds oldest pier railway with the electric locomotives built in 1917.
