HAWK DAY

This Cooper’s Hawk brought some kind of tasty morsel to this branch and worked on it while I snapped his picture.  Another day trip today, this time to Corkscrew Sanctuary in Naples, Florida.  We heard there were lots of critters there, but we saw only this hawk and a couple egrets.  The path was a 2 ½ mile raised boardwalk through an ancient Cyprus swamp.  Perhaps it was naptime in the animals’ busy day, but we walked the path for over three hours, so you’d think we would have seen more animal life.  All was not lost because we did have an enjoyable, peaceful time walking through the vegetation.  The Cyprus trees made a lovely, high canopy, and the ‘legends’ (as they’re called) were enormous at 22 ft. and 34 ft. in circumference.
