Birthday Saturday

As I said yesterday, I drove to Angela's this morning. Lisa was already gone to the next step. Guy, Angela and I picked up a few bags of smelt at Buzzy's.

That's what you see here. The smelt from Miguasha are well renowned for their special flavor. Some say it's because they are immediately frozen outside on a sheet of ice like here. Since the smelts are fished on the ice, they have to wait for the Bay to freeze and are therefore at the mercy of the weather for a very short fishing season. Some guys have even lost their truck because they didn't wait long enough for the Bay to freeze.

From there we went to Clarence's (whom it was also the birthday today) to meet with Lisa, Cathy, Lawrence, Dorina and Leo. We all skied up to the "block" and back to Clarence's camp for lunch. It was cold and windy but the sun was somehow making it all right.

I remind you that everything as it was unfolding was a surprise to me.

We then all drove to "La Porte des Platins" at the Village Allard where Lisa had rented a cottage on the Rivière Nouvelle. We had supper and danced and sang until 4am.

To be continued...........
