Spot the blipper

Slight confusion about our bus timetable meant we rushed a potentially magnificent breakfast and then wandered a bit aimlessly for an hour - but I managed a surreal blip of us ascending a huge stairway beside a new monolithic building just inside Valletta town walls.
We made it to Mdina eventually and it was worth the minor aggravation. A tiny gem of a mediaeval walled city with mini chasms of narrow streets and panoramic views of pretty much all of Malta from the ramparts. But it was so very, very cold with a bitter wind and we took refuge in the cathedral (excessively ornate and being further embellished for Easter by extraordinary purple lighting - see extra) and it's adjoining museum. If you like religious art of a certain gloomy genre then this would be your dream come true.
We elected to just sightsee from the lofty perspective of the open topped tourist bus which took us back to Valletta on a circuitous route. The headphone commentary provided was very well pitched; lots of info and pretty well coordinated with the scenery. But we stupidly forgot the wind chill factor upstairs and froze for 2 1/2 hrs (the bus was full so no opportunity to move!). If I was in Orkney I'd have been well prepared with sensible clothing; being in the Med I'm seriously underdressed! Never mind :-D
Our hotel room is also fairly chilly so we're heading out to find a snug restaurant (hopefully!) and a hot bath may well be in order.
An added extra for silliness :-)
