a safe haven

In Bangor marina and snapped this. It is a wondeful sight to behold with all the masts reaching skywards and the rigging, tinkling and jangling in the wind. A changed time for Bangor, but a re-use of an old safe haven in the harbour.
The new marina opened in 1989 and remains the biggest of its type in N. Ireland.  Bangor has a long history from Bronze age settlements and  includes a time when the area was referred to as the "vale of angels", as St Patrick allegedly had a vision of angels!
It has a history of over 300 years of being a port town and this area recalls old days.
What ties the past and the present together is, however, the purpose - to provide a safe haven for visitors. What a message for us who call this place home.. to offer sanctuary to those who soujourn among us!
