Schools have officially been back for 3 days now since the Newroz holiday. But the teachers aren't showing up. There are protests all over the region, even in our city which is very unusual (our city is very very loyal to the gov). Yesterday there were arrests of journalists and teachers protesting, including the maths teacher at K's school, so the other teachers are refusing to teach in solidarity with him. Their pay has been slashed by more than half and they've not been paid for 5 months. This has been going on for a few years now and people are running out of patience. Life is tough for many people.
