Caracol waterfall

Caracol State Park is a Brazilian conservation unit located in the southern region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in the municipality of Canela.

With closed forests in its vicinity, it is formed by the arroyo of the same name, that plunges in free fall of 131 meters by basaltic rocks of the Formation Serra Geral, forming Cascade of the Caracol. A landscaped complex of rare beauty, becoming the second most visited tourist spot in southern Brazil.

In the 50's, the entire area was expropriated for the creation of the State Park of Caracol, and of the 100 hectares, only 25 are destined to tourism. The rest of the area is fully preserved.
