The new Chancellor

I was delighted and honoured to speak today at the installation of Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Laureate, anti poverty campaigner, founder of the Grameen Bank and key proponent of microcredit as the new Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University.

This is the first time such a figure has taken on the Chancellorship of a Scottish University and his words today, calling for a new world in which the poor have abolished their poverty was inspirational. So will his work be, as helps the community of the University to move forward.

Professor Pamela Gillies, the University Vice Chancellor & Principal was instrumental in asking him to be involved in this way and it is greatly to her, and the university Court's credit that they did so, and even more to his that he accepted.
