Tree Shapes, Highway 80

We had one final ski this morning before we left for home—just a short loop at Royal Gorge, but another splendid perfect day in the snow. It won’t be there for long though, not with the pleasant daily temps we’ve had, and no new storms in the future. By the time we got to the San Jose area this afternoon it was 83 degrees. Redbuds were bright against the side of the road, miscellaneous trees were ready to burst with spring. It was startling to get out of the car for a break and feel the wall of heat after being in the cold for several days.

It is so important for me to get to the snow at least once during the season. Skiing connects to my deepest soul, fills my core, completes me in a way that I can’t explain. Joy. Let me say it is not exercise, but joy. Absolute delight.
