Wartime coastal battery

Wintry showers wre forecast and duly arrived with some snow but mainly hard driving hail. I went down to St Marys and walked along the cliff at Howequoy Head where a hen harrier was hunting. Coffee in a sheltered geo, then I continued along to Graemeshall and shelter in a searchlight emplacement overlooking the cliff. This image is of the observation tower that was used to direct fire onto any enemy ships attempting to enter Scapa Flow.
