End of an era

A sad day, though we’ve know for a while that it was inevitable. The company I’ve worked for, for the past 6 years, closed its door for the last time. We kept the pictures on the walls for as long as possible but, this morning, took them down. All train-related, they belonged to K, our lovely employer, who died last month. In an instant, the office was no longer our place of work, and became just a bare, empty room.

The three of us who worked there had a very nice lunch at a hotel in Berwick and raised a glass or two in K’s memory. Then we parted to go our separate ways, though I’m sure it’s not the last time we’ll meet together…
