Playin’ Possum!

This opossum actually was NOT playing possum! That phrase comes from this animal’s tendency to sull up and play dead when threatened. I have seen them do that, but as you see, this old bugger met my gaze straight on! The only marsupial in our area, they are facinating, if unsightly creatures. This is the second one we have caught in a live trap in the barn this spring. Both were helping themselves to the chicken and horse food so they were Fat and sassy! As They can also develop a taste for chicken, we relocated both a couple of miles from the house. The extra shows him free and about to be on his way( probably back to our barn
