Early bird

A wet and wonderful day! Half of us meeting with old friends for coffee while the others went shopping!. Yep you guessed I was in the shopping party! Beautiful pottery to see and purchase and then some lunch for a picnic on the hoof. We went on a guided walk to the marshes to hopefully see my first ever avocet and hopefully to see some bearded tits and also to hear bitterns. Well two out of three was fantastic. A family first. We saw unbelievable quantities of bearded tits all hoppiting through the reeds!! They are so rare and normally so elusive that even the warden was surprised!!!! Joy! Sadly the rain was pouring down and I had decided not to take a camera so there is no evidence... just wonderful memories! I also saw Avocet- what elegant birds they are. A dream come true.
